ABOUT THE WEEK OF CHANGE / WANDELWOCHE

Bring on the good life! – Tours and events about: “New ways of living and working in Berlin and the surrounding areas”

The idea

The good life for everyone – it is possible! A life characterised by togetherness, solidarity, fairness and mindfulness, an ecological consciousness for the protection of nature and the environment that makes sure this planet is a liveable place for future generations – it can be had by us all.

They’re everywhere: projects and ideas for a life and an economy beyond compulsory growth and profits.

Cooperatives and collectives, neighbourhood centres, community-supported agriculture and community gardening, resource pools and open source, communal housing projects and communes, food sharing and repair-cafes – all these are examples of the versatility of constructive and creative alternatives to endless growth and the exploitation of resources. They are proof that we want something different. And we can have it, too!

The Week of Change can help these projects gain visibility and find like-minded people willing to start similar projects of their own.

Let’s discover new grounds of solidarity and sustainability!

Around 30 tours and events will take place, financed by your donations, taking the curious to more than 50 projects and businesses engaged in finding alternatives of housing and the economy – on foot, by bike, with busses and other forms of public transport.

The participating initiatives and organisations offer individually organised tours and events on various topics all relating to life and work far from competition and exploitation. They demonstrate that change has already begun – all we need to do is let them inspire us, seize the opportunity and get involved.

Bring on the good life! For everyone! Everywhere!

How it all came about – and how it’ll continue

In 2015 the first Week of Change took place in Berlin and Brandenburg.
Initiated by the Forum for Solidarity Economy (Forum Solidarische Ökonomie e.V.) and a large network of supporters, stories of success were presented prior to the Congress of Solidarity Economy and Transformation in Berlin.

5 days /// 30 tours /// 70 projects of working and living the good life in the region. More than 600 participants made up a week of alternatives and change. Find all tours and projects of 2015 here:
