Informal get-together with activists from Ghana, Cameroon, Nigeria and Brandenburg

This is an event surrounding the Week of Change, withe which we want to encourage networking among initiatives active in the field of migration.

• Accessibility: The yard is widely accessible. Entrance to the buildings is possible over ramps (ground-floor only). Toilet accessible for wheelchairs is available.

From 11 – 15 September 2017 the New Alliances Conference will take place where activists from different regions in Ghana, Cameroon, Nigeria and Brandenburg meet to network, debate and form new alliances.

On 11th of September participants of the Convention will get to know different, also institutional, players active in the field of migration in Potsdam/Brandenburg. Afterwards, from 18:00 to around 20:00, there will be the opportunity to get into conversation with the participants of the conference. For the informal get-together (with barbecue) we’ll meet in the yard of the self-organized center Projekthaus Potsdam.

About Venrob e.V.

„VENROB e.V. has been Brandenburg’s umbrella association for organizations, initiatives and OneWorld-Shops (Fair-Trade-Shops), since 1995. They have been committed to engaging in co-development actions, development education and strengthening the commitment and awareness of civil society for development politics.

VENROB’s main focus areas are:Providing capacity-building services to a range of stakeholders in this sector, promoting contacts, cooperation and collaboration; Lobbying and advocating at federal state level, participating in the sustainable development strategy of Brandenburg, especially at the country Action Plan Education for Sustainable Development; Supporting of the Local Agenda 21 and development politics at local government level.“

About Cagintua e.V.

„Cagintua was established by migrants in 2007 in Brandenburg. It plays a key role specialising in the support, capacity building and advocacy of refugees. It also reports to civil society on the situation of migrants and refugees in Brandenburg.

Cagintua e.V. believes in the power of exchange, and works with a number of different organizations in Brandenburg in order to promote and facilitate cooperation among migrants to empower their initiatives and projects.“

About Omega Project Management Foundation (Ghana)

„Omega Project Management Foundation (OPMF) is a national NGO incorporated in the year 2008 in Ghana with a focus on community empowerment and development. One of our hallmarks is the special skills and commitment of our staff in community mobilization and building the capacity of grass root community members. We work with and help develop community structures for sustainability of our projects. As a strategy developed by OPMF in all our projects, we form Community Project Management Committees (CPMC) to build the capacity of the members of committees in project management and supervision, and also to ensure community participation and ownership of the project. In most of our projects, we train community volunteers and mentor them. Most of these volunteers have become leaders in strengthening their communities.“

About La Maison de la Diaspora (Cameroon)

„The aims of „La Maison de la Diaspora“ are a) creating a network and platform between the Cameroon diaspora and the the people of Cameroon; b) strengthening the engagement of the diaspora community in helping to develop Cameroon; c) the improvement of communication channels between activists within the diaspora community and Cameroonian activists within the public and private sectors.“

  exit Zehlendorf > via Potsdamer Chaussee and Königstraße towards Potsdam Babelsberg
  or
  exit Potsdam-Babelsberg > via Nuthestr. > turn right into Wetzlaer Str. > straigt forward to August-Bebel-Str. until Rudolf-Breitscheid-Straße 164. (turn left into R.-Breitscheid-Str.)
  Parking possible at parking lot Rudolf-Breitscheid- Straße 168 (follow the sign for Werkhaus Potsdam)
• With regional train: with regional train (e.g. from Berlin to Magdeburg, Brandenburg, Dessau) until Wannsee > change here into S-Bahn (city train) S7, drive one station until S Potsdam Griebnitzsee > take the left exit (towards the lake Griebnitzsee)
• from S-Bahn station Griebnitzsee:
  exit the entrance hall to the left, follow the Rudolf-Breitscheid-Straße for about 200 meter, cross an intersection, continue straight. Directly across a footballfield you will find the Projekthaus Potsdam
